Recently Yahoo changed the way they provided end-of-day data so that in addition to all historical days they also provide a current spot price for intraday.
What this means right now is that you have 2 options for getting intraday updates in Bandit:
1. Just press 'Update List Data' at anytime during the day - you will get the intraday data included but it takes longer because full history is downloaded each time you do this.
2. Use 'Update List Data' overnight but when the market opens make sure you only use 'Intraday Update'. This means each time you do the intraday update it will be quicker. If you mistakenly press 'Update List Data' during the trading day then the 'Intraday Update' will no longer work for that day. In this case just continue to use the Update List Data button to get the full history each time including the intraday data.
Please see my forum post for more on this change from Yahoo: http://www.edgerater.com/edgetalk/topic116.html
I will be monitoring the Yahoo data feed closely to see if any other changes occur and provide a fix if needed.
Hope that helps.
Sincerely,
Chris White

Subject: EOD Update done (accidentally) before market close...
Hey Chris,
I've been trying to "buy on the close" as Larry Connors book suggests. Today 7/12/12, I went online at 3:45pm and ran ETF Trading Bandit ... but I hit the "Update List" button by mistake instead of the "Intraday Update" button. ETB seems to have done an EOD upate and is showing 7/12/12-12:00am as though it has captured the final stock prices after the market has closed. I immediately tried to run an "Intraday Update", but nothing changed... still showed as 7/12/12-12:00am on the summary screen.
What do you recommend besides taking care not to hit the "Update List" before the market closes. Should I wait until at least 4:30pm before hitting the "Update List" button... or maybe even 9:00pm eastern time? Seems like the ETB program could give a warning before letting me do the EOD update too early.
Your consideration will be greatly appreciated... Bruce G.

Re: More on EOD vs Intraday Updating
Chris, I'm not sure my intraday update is working. The time never goes past 12:00. If I hover the mouse over the time column as one of your posts suggest, I don't get anything. I have tried to check some of the charts against stockcharts.com and I'm pretty sure I'm not getting updates.
thanks
thanks

Re: More on EOD vs Intraday Updating
This is probably due to the original point 2:
Thanks,
Chris.
If intraday update has successfully updated then the Intra column date/time will change. If you still see 12:00 in the intra column then it probably means you hit 'Update List Data' during the day. That is okay but see this original point 1:Use 'Update List Data' overnight but when the market opens make sure you only use 'Intraday Update'. This means each time you do the intraday update it will be quicker. If you mistakenly press 'Update List Data' during the trading day then the 'Intraday Update' will no longer work for that day. In this case just continue to use the Update List Data button to get the full history each time including the intraday data.
I will be monitoring the Yahoo data to see if there is a better way to deal with this in the future.Just press 'Update List Data' at anytime during the day - you will get the intraday data included but it takes longer because full history is downloaded each time you do this.
Thanks,
Chris.
