EdgeRater connects to external stock market data using built-in data providers. The actual data to fetch is specified in a symbol list. Each symbol list can be associated with one data provider.
A symbol list contains one or more symbols and descriptions of those symbols as well as the time period of data to fetch. Every time the ‘update data’ button is pressed for a symbol list the entire set of data specified in that list is collected from the data provider and stored locally for use in EdgeRater. This local store is called a data snapshot.
When a symbol list is updated the data is downloaded and stored in an associated data snapshot
